The advertisement stated that only men could apply, which angered Sudha. She wrote a postcard to JRD Tata, expressing her frustration and highlighting the injustice of the policy. Impressed by her determination and courage, JRD Tata invited Sudha for an interview. Despite not being serious about the role initially, she attended the interview and was eventually hired as the first female engineer at TELCO .
